naive grace

yep. that's me... in so many ways. i came across this chapter in a book i've been skimming through (but careful to not wrinkle because its a gift to a friend :o)) lately. the "critical" reader that i am, i can't say i agree with all of it, but certain things have challenged me in my thinking greatly.

i was talking to a friend of mine about the idea of forgiveness, and how hard it is. she jokingly said, "you have to, that's your name..." and its so true. every utterance is a reminder that i must live up to my name.

so this chapter... it was talking about how children, in their naiviety, forgive and are gracious in ways that adults who have been weathered with life, are not able to be. they overlook and love in a way that is not easy for "grown ups" to do.

in general, i've tended to have a "childlikeness" about me... but my usually cheerful disposition conveys that. somewhere along the difficulties of the past couple of months, though, i have really allowed a "jaded" grace to take over. i very much didn't feel like myself... and i hated the sadness that this grace portrayed.

looking at that chapter really got me to think about grace differently once again... (continued...)

... i'm thankful that God is gracious with me.

Hi Grace! Thought I'd leave a note on your blog! Was skimming & found it funny that as little as I read these days, I have read Jerry Bridges "Trusting God" and C.S. Lewis' "Four Loves" recently. Both good...both very different.

Anyways, wanted share a verse that has encouraged me through recent difficulties...

Psalm 100: 1-5

"Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladnesss; Come before Him with joyful singing. Know that the Lord Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; We are His people and sheep of His pasture. Enter His courts with thanksgiving, And His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him; Bless His name. For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting, And His faithfulness to all generations."

miss you much!
Love,
Muy
