i don't write happy poetry, generally.
generally, i don't
express myself in state of hope
for fear that the actualization
(in mere words) would spoil the potential.

but there is something different about today
your hopefulness has me hoping
for what i've feared of dreaming.

yesterday you asked me why
i've been waking up before i ought
when generally i oversleep
i had no ready answer
(except perhaps facetiously, the alarm in my heart is set five minutes early).

perhaps for now, living in wakefulness
fully anticipating tomorrow
-- another day closer to meeting you --
is for once more pleasant and real
than dreams.



today, i'm thankful for God waking me up before my alarm... for whatever unknown cause, so i can spend some time with Him.
